gastro mk, our evening restaurant at maison mk, is developing further with Omar taking over the kitchen as head chef, Abdelrahni as sous chef, & Amina the breakfast cook still making moroccan breads and breakfasts. Andrew, the previous head chef, having set up gastro mk for us & intensively trained Omar for the past 6 months, is returning to the UK awaiting the arrival of his partner's new baby girl.
Omar comes from one of the top restaurants in Marrakech, L'Abyssin, where he was head chef in charge of a team of 5 chefs. He comes to maison mk with an amazing experience in fine Moroccan cooking. Trained & inspired at maison mk by Andrew West, their work put us up to number one restaurant on Tripadvisor within 2 months of opening. Now Omar has the kitchen, he wants to also use the local ingredients in a subtle French way and is producing a great 5 course tasting menu that combines his Moroccan heritage together with modern French cuisine.
We are still number one on tripadvisor & Omar is planning to stay there !

We re-opened gastro mk under Omar two nights ago & so far the the feedback is superb - comments include "Excellent", "Fabulous", "Best in Marrakech" etc, etc.
So it's all looking good... well done to the whole gastro team for me & Aoibheann.
