We
at maison mk were very proud to have Sex and the City 2 filmed in the same city
as our beautiful riad and we even came close to some of the action!

Sex and the City 2 was mostly filmed in Marrakech in the ancient medina however the original plan was to film in Abu Dhabi. The story goes that when the Abu Dhabi authorities were aware of scenes involving drinking alcohol, they no longer wanted to shoot it there so filming moved back to Marrakech.
The filming was happening all around the maison mk area so many times I tried to turn down a street only to find barriers and big
security guards stopping me from passing. In the main square, Jemaa el Fnaa,
there were about 30 huge trucks of equipment - a real contrast between the
ancient Marrakech Medina and the modern film
world.
As a side note, our very own chic manageress, Pauline, was asked to be the body
double for Miranda during filming. They use the body doubles to set up lighting,
try clothing options and generally have the
whole set ready for the moment the star comes on set. Unfortunately the filming
was during our busiest time of bookings late last year so it was not possible
to spare her but maybe next time!
